We are often asked how many can be accomodated by a certain size table. There are a few factors that come into play. How will your table be primarily used? Will is be reserved for more formal occatsions, or will it be the family dining table? For formal dining about 30 inches of space is allowed between chairs. For family dining you should allow at lease 24 inches of space between chairs. Will you be using chairs, or bench seating? With bench seating children can take up less room, about 18-24 inches. What shape will the table be? Rectangular tables can hold more people, followed by round, then square. Below is a seating guide based on 19 inch chairs.
